The Marie Curie grant will fund four years of research and training into qualitative and quantitative approaches to the measurement and management of financial risks. The topics studied will be critically important to both public and private sector organisations and are very timely in view of the recent subprime crisis and credit crunch. By bringing multi-sector and multi-disciplinary team of experts together, the network expects to make a significant contribution to the financial sector in both providing insights and innovative solutions to many of the current problems, thereby helping to curtail the recurrence of further financial crisis.
The large scale project will be coordinated by Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester and will fund 32 Marie Curie Fellows including four postdoctoral research fellows each for a 24-month duration, ten full-time PhD students each for a 36-month duration, and 18 short-term research visits for early stage researchers for a duration ranging from 6 to 18 months. In most cases, each researcher is expected to be trained jointly by at least one university and one industry partner.
